Biography
Local historian and author Kay Atwood, who has written extensively about the Southern Oregon region. Atwood’s books include Illahe: The Story of Settlement in the Rogue River Canyon, Mill Creek Journal: Ashland Oregon, 1850-1860, and Chaining Oregon: Surveying the Public Lands of the Pacific Northwest, 1851-1855. Her many other books and articles explore the settlement and development of communities in Southern Oregon, and include National Register nominations, cultural resource inventories, and environmental and organizational histories.

Hay
The materials are a collection of various documents and notes related to the history of the Hay (or Hayes?) family. Many of these items are handwritten notes, presumably Atwood's, about the family and their history. Also included are newspaper clippings and handwritten manuscripts.

These materials concern the history of individuals and families in the unincorporated community of Illahe, Oregon. These materials include individual's accounts of their family history, primary source documents, newspaper articles, etc.
Illahe transcripts, 1976-1977
These materials are mostly typewritten transcripts of interviews that Kay Atwood conducted in researching her book, Illahe: The Story of Settlement in the Rogue River Canyon. Also included are some of Atwood's notes and drafts of family trees.

This item is a historical resource survey of Lakeview, Oregon conducted by Ward Tonsfeldt Consulting and submitted on August 1, 1989. The preface reads: "This survey was begun in August of 1988 and completed in July of 1989. The project was sponsored by the Town of Lakeview Planning Office. Data collected in the survey will help the Planning Office make informed decisions about historic resources within the town."
