Scope and Contents

This pioneer courthouse, built in 1884 in Jacksonville, still stands as a monument to the integrity and growth of a community set on the principles of fair democratic government. The courthouse is now a museum featuring items of western history. Jacksonville was born of the first gold rush days in Oregon during 1851. (Oregon State Highway Department Photo 5996).
