Scope and Contents

The materials provide research on the town of Butte Falls and the Sawmill site at Big Butte Creek Falls. The materials contain oral history interviews with Charles Patton, Elga Abbott, and handwritten narrative by Earnest Smith, an early Butte Falls citizen. There are images of Jackson County Deeds, the Commissioner's Journal from July 1911, and the petition of incorporation and organization of the town, as well as newspaper articles. Additional materials include correspondence regarding the research and handwritten notes.
