Oregon, Southern

The Diagram of Public Surveys is compiled from township surveys of 1863. It includes information on the locations of gold mining, Indian territory, and physical features.

The primary material in this file is an excerpt from a book entitled Pioneer Catholic History of Oregon by Edwin O'Hara (1939). The excerpt concerns a place in southern Oregon referred to as Allen Gulch. The other materials are index cards detailing information about photos from the Southern Oregon Historical Society's collection.

The materials include newspaper and magazine articles related to various tribes in the Pacific Northwest. Also contains correspondence. Tribes include the Bella Bella, Haida, Miwok, Neah Bay, Puyallup, Quileute, Samish, Snoqualmie, Snohomish, Stillaguamish, and Yakimas.
