The National Registry of Historic Places describes Southern Oregon Sales as a fruit processing plant that helped revitalize the Rogue River Valley fruit industry during the late 1920s. Details of many different periods of history are in the nomination form, as well as how the fruit industry survived obstacles. Also included are photographs, negatives, and floor plans of the buildings.

The research documents concerning the Squaw Peak Lookout describe the lookout as built in 1943, and significant for its place in the development of fire detection in the Rogue River National Forest. The lookout's history represents Fire Suppression in the forest between 1918 and 1943. Materials note Squaw Peak Lookout's consideration for placement on the National Registry of Historic Places.

The "Cultural Resource Inventory and Evaluation of Existing Structures for the Star Ranger Station" discusses the significance of placing the structures on the National Registry of Historic Places. The history of the Star Ranger site began with an altercation with the local Indians in 1855 and continues into the 1970s. There are images of the structures, landscape planning, and discussions of alternatives to the restoration of the station, and the impact on the area.

Preservation archaeologist Leland Gilsen compiled the list of historical sites in Josephine County for the State Historic Preservation Office. The list was sent to Mr. Bruce Bartow at the Josephine County Planning Office on Aprill 11, 1979.
