Scope and Contents
Lalo Rock on the rim of Crater Lake looms above the nation's deepest lake in the background to the left of Wizard Island in this view from Discovery Point on the west side of the natural phenomenon. Encompassed in Oregon's only national park, Crater Lake was formed eons ago when the peak of 12,000 - foot Mt. Mazama collapsed during volcanic eruption. Wizard Island is an inactive volcanic cone in the 20 - square - mile, cliff - rimmed crater. Crater Lake National Park is on the crest of the Cascade mountains in southern Oreon, 77 miles east of Medford and 57 miles north of Klamath Falls. OSH (Oregon State Highway) Photo 8489. Crater Lake.
