Wonga of the branded hand, 1849
Scope and Contents
The advertisement for upcoming shows at the Theatre Royal, Lincoln. The featured play, Wonga of the Branded Hand will star Mr. A. Abel and his two highly trained Mount St. Bernard Dogs. The play describes the characters of Wonga of the Branded Hand as the grateful savage, and the Shawnee Chief Black Vulture as the Native American villain. The broadside describes the play as "Robert and Edith Happy -- The white men triumphant, and Black Vulture's death by the dog."
