Francis G. Swedenburg journals, 1890-1937
Scope and Contents
This series consists of 34 handwritten journals, or diaries, spanning the years 1890-1937. They contain the daily routine of Dr. Swedenburg and include mentions of the weather, patient information, house calls, events in Ashland and the Rogue Valley, pear harvests, and deaths. An example of a random entry from Tuesday, March 14th, 1933: Dr. Shaw called me early and told me of the passing of Gladys Parks during the night. Poor little soul, it seemed so strange that she could not rally and I am not at all satisfied with the diagnosis – for from the very first it was peculiar by the nervousness and the vomiting.
