Scope and Contents
The National Register of Historic Places form describes the Noble-Gohrke House. Constructed in 1909 as an elegant residence in Grants Pass, for George S. and Ella Calhoun. Mr. Calhoun served the Grants Pass community in many ways. In 1923, James Noble, a miner, purchased the home. The Gohrke family purchased the residence in 1944 and remained there until 1979.
A history of the Calhoun, Noble, and Gohrke families is found in the nomination forms, as well as plot and city plans, images of the house, and correspondence regarding the nomination.
