 File — Box: 06, Folder: 02
Identifier: MSS025:01.73

Scope and Contents

The National Register of Historic Places form describes the Medford I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Established in 1890, the cemetery's grave markers represent early 19th-century mortuary art. In 1925, George D. Mason constructed the mausoleum. Two small frame service buildings also occupy the grounds, as well as sheds for maintenance of the property. In 1969, I.O.O.F. approached the City of Medford and Jackson County, asking them to take over the cemetery as they had run out of funds to maintain the upkeep properly.

Materials include correspondence regarding the nomination, a brief history of Independent Order of Odd Fellows, communication from the City of Medford, letters from the I.O.O.F., legal documents, Mail Tribune articles regarding the fate of the cemetery, plot plans, maps and images of the cemetery.
