United States Forest Service Lookout Research, Historic Fire Lookouts Siskiyou National Forest, 1994
Scope and Contents
The materials detail the eight lookouts located in the Siskiyou National Forest. The report evaluates each lookout to determine eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places. The eight lookouts are situated in three counties in southwest Oregon and were constructed between 1945 and 1963. A brief history of the effect of increased land protection during the late 19th-century is included. Additional documents note population growth in the cities and towns associated within the area. Images of the buildings, maps, and handwritten notes are included.
