Scope and Contents

The National Register of Historic Places for Multiple Property form describes the Historic Properties for the Mining Resources of the Upper Illinois Valley in Josephine County, Oregon. The document details the history of Gold Placer Mining and Development in the Waldo area between 1851 and 1942. Three folders contain the research for these nomination forms. The sites in part three (this folder), include Upper Ditch, Middle Ditch, Wimer Ditch, Osgood Ditch, Logan Wash Ditch, Logan Cut, and Logan Drain Ditches. The sites in part one, include Allen Gulch Townsite, St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Waldo Cemetery, Waldo Chinese Cemetery, and Old Placer Mine. The sites in part two, include Deep Gravel Mine, High Gravel Mine, Fry Gulch Mine, Cameron Mine, Esterly Pit #2 / Llano de Oro Mine, Plataurica Mine, Waldo Mine, and Allen Gulch Mill.
