Sid Carter photographs
Content Description
Sid Carter photographed bird nests and eggs in Jackson County, Oregon. Between 1913-1933, Carter printed the photographs as 98 distinct postcards. All of these postcards you see depict 'real photos'. In 1903, the Kodak Company introduced the 3A Folding Pocket Camera which enabled amateur photographers to create postcard-sized prints. Real photo postcards were affordable and easy to produce. Carter often made handwritten notes on the postcard noting the location of the nest and species of bird. A collection of ninety-eight photographs printed on postcards depicting bird nests and eggs.
