This item is a second and slightly different copy of the second in a series of three volumes of the journals of Captain "Dynamite" Johnny O'Brien. These are photocopies of the microfilm version of the journals housed in the University of Alaska archives at the Elmer E. Rasmuson Library in Fairbanks, Alaska. This volume covers the period roughly from 1889-1909. "The journals, handwritten in pencil, are a narrative of his life and were written between 1928 and 1930."

The photos are from the Hawaii state archives requested by Powers for his research. Included are copies of photographs of ships, ports, and political figures in Hawaii, mostly from the 19th century. Also included is some correspondence between Powers and the archives office.

These materials include three images of nautical scenes from the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center in Anchorage, Alaska. It seems the photos might have been taken in Nome, Alaska. Also included is the letter sent by the reference specialist to Dennis Powers.

These materials include four photos from the Museum of History & Industry in Seattle. The first three photos are three different ships, the Victoria, the Eureka, and the Utopia. The fourth photo is of Captain Dynamite Johnny O'Brien and a sailor. Also included are the order and invoice for the photos. The photos are undated.

These materials constitute a compilation of photos from Powers' research of Captain Dynamite Johnny O'Brien. These are a consolidated collection of some of the photos from the earlier folders in this box. They seem to be a first draft of photos to be included in his book, Tales of the Seven Seas. The photos are undated.
