Jeffery LaLande worked as an independent historian outside of his Forest Service career, and this collection resulted from his independent research. These papers include correspondence with researchers on various topics; files from essays, articles, book reviews, and books he has written; and his peer reviews, requested by various editors, of manuscripts submitted for publication.

These files include ranger district and subunit recreation plans, recreation site plans, and special-use maps. Files include recreation brochures for trails, interpretive programs, special-use permittees, such as Mt. Ashland Ski Area, Union Creek Resort. Also includes other recreation-oriented items, as well as information regarding the operation of wilderness and heritage resource programs. The plan contains historical background for Butte Falls area, an inventory of current recreation sites, and future development needs.
