Jeffery LaLande worked as an independent historian outside of his Forest Service career, and this collection resulted from his independent research. These papers include correspondence with researchers on various topics; files from essays, articles, book reviews, and books he has written; and his peer reviews, requested by various editors, of manuscripts submitted for publication.

The O series consists of files and reports regarding the Forest Service land purchases and land exchange programs, particularly those involving lands revested from the Oregon and California Railroad Grant lands.

O-13 "Acquisition and Exchange Plan for Crater National Forest," by Hugh B. Rankin, L-Exchange, Crater National Forest, Medford, Oregon (30p). A long-range planning document that includes a record of desired extensions by Township/Range, and provides the characteristics of the various parcels. [RR-SNF/SOU-HL]

O-15 "Land Acquisition Plan," Rogue River National Forest, L-Lands, Medford, Oregon (34p). The document states the goals concerning land acquisition program for the whole Forest and by Ranger District. The document includes information on the timber values of various areas. [RR-SNF/SOU-HL]

O-19 The "Crater Lake National Park Extension," National Park Service, Washington, D.C. The file contains 1920s correspondence, reports, and newspaper articles discussing proposals to expand Crater Lake National Park boundaries to include the present Sky Lakes Wilderness. Newspaper articles date 1968 and 1988. The file includes maps of the Sky Lakes Wilderness Area. [RR-SNF/SOU-HL]

R-4 File includes miscellaneous files regarding logging and forest management industry.

The file contains documents about the changes that occurred with the structure and "operating procedures" of the Rogue River National Forest. It includes "The Mission," "Opportunity Statements," "The Journey," "Strategic Planning," Forest "re-organization," and the eventual consolidation with the Siskiyou N.F. These various projects and tasks involved significant amounts of staff time and energy during the 1990s-early 2000s.

S-11 The file includes the "Proposals and planning documents for consolidation of two forests into the Rogue River – Siskiyou National Forest," Rogue River And Siskiyou National Forests, Medford and Grants Pass, Oregon. 2 copies and emails from Scott Conroy regarding consolidation. [RR-SNF/SOU-HL]

The file contains notes and correspondence concerning the donation of Rogue River National Forest records. The file includes the "Guide to the Historical Photograph Collection of the Rogue River National Forest," by Jeff LaLande.
