The files contain various documents concerning the activities of the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Emergency Relief Administration on the Rogue River National Forest between 1933-1942. A few items relate to the Job Corps, Youth Conservation Corps, Young Adult Conservation Corps activities of the 1960s-1970s, and the "Jobs in the Woods" program of the 1990s.

A-8 Rogue River National Forest "General National Forest Information," Medford, Oregon (18p). A forerunner of the Multiple-Use Reports, this report gives background on CCC, ERA, and Blister Rust crews, Forest-use statistics, and descriptions of significant recreation features. The paper uses a question and answer format in much of the text. Provides a total of various types of FS structures (e.g., lookouts, ranger stations, dwellings). [RR-SNF/SOUHL]

Rogue River National Forest, "Historical Record for Building Inventory and Maintenance Reports," Medford, Oregon. These forms provide construction dates as well as dates and types of various additions, remodeling, and maintenance. Reports include some structures dating to the 1920s and 1930s, such as lookouts and CCC-built guard stations. [RR-SNF/SOUHL]

Jeffery LaLande worked as an independent historian outside of his Forest Service career, and this collection resulted from his independent research. These papers include correspondence with researchers on various topics; files from essays, articles, book reviews, and books he has written; and his peer reviews, requested by various editors, of manuscripts submitted for publication.
