Scope and Contents
The guidelines for preserving the Ashland, Hargadine, and Mountain View cemeteries has been set up by the City of Ashland as guidelines for public visits. These were put into place to preserve the Historic nature, as each is on the National Register of Historic Places. Each cemetery has a unique historical story and pictures of some of the headstones, and the cemeteries are included.

The nomination form for the National Register of Historic Places describes Hargadine Cemetery as officially established in 1867, in the city limits of Ashland. Many first-generation settlers and pioneers (1867–1910) are laid to rest here. The cemetery initially began as a family burial ground where Robert and Martha Hargadine buried their one-year-old daughter on December 8, 1867.
