Biography
Local historian and author Kay Atwood, who has written extensively about the Southern Oregon region. Atwood’s books include Illahe: The Story of Settlement in the Rogue River Canyon, Mill Creek Journal: Ashland Oregon, 1850-1860, and Chaining Oregon: Surveying the Public Lands of the Pacific Northwest, 1851-1855. Her many other books and articles explore the settlement and development of communities in Southern Oregon, and include National Register nominations, cultural resource inventories, and environmental and organizational histories.

The Sanborn Insurance maps are what they used for calculating insurance premiums for customers. Included are maps from the years 1888, 1890, and 1893. These maps provide information about the location, function, building materials, and dimensions of structures for each year listed.

The maps from the Sanborn-Perris Map Company outline the city of Yreka, California on a CD. The Sanborn Insurance maps are what they used for calculating insurance premiums for customers. The maps provided information on the location, function, building materials, and dimensions of structures for each year listed.
