Scope and Contents

O-7 "Boundary Adjustment Report (proposed addition to Crater Lake National Park), Union Creek Area," by Hugh B. Rankin, L-Boundaries, Crater National Forest, Medford, Oregon (9+p map, scale: 1"=4 miles). Gives timber volume estimates, by section, for lands proposed for addition to Crater Lake National Park (Union Creek area, east to present Park boundary; 18,500 acres). The report mentions current uses such as huckleberry picking, and roads, and discusses likely routes of a potential logging railroad. The report recommends that the addition not be approved. (See also Item C-8). The file includes correspondence regarding the expansion of Crater Lake National Park into what is now the Sky Lakes Wilderness during the 1920-1930s. The file is an early discussion of what is now Sky Lakes, including Forest Service favorable comments of backcountry recreation potential of the area. The file contains 24 items. [RR-SNF/SOU-HL]
