 File — Box: 01, Folder: 16
Identifier: MSS025:01.16

Scope and Contents

The National Register of Historic Places nomination form describes the Rock Point Hotel, located on the Del Rio Orchard property. The file includes plot plans, crate labels, and correspondence concerning the nomination.

The architect of the Classical Revival architecture is unknown, but John Campbell is possibly the builder. The Rock Point Hotel built in 1865, for Lytle J. White, functioned as a stop for the stage and an essential stop for travelers. In 1907, the Rock Point Hotel and the surrounding lands were purchased by F.K. Duell and Alf Weeks who combined the property with eight hundred acres to build up the Del Rio Orchard company that grew a variety of fruits.
