Fort Lane Site, 1.5 miles Northwest of the intersection of Blackwell Road and Tolo Road, Central Point, Oregon, 1987
Scope and Contents
The National Register of Historic Places form indicates that the United States Army occupied Fort Lane Site from 1853-1856. Located approximately 3.5 miles northwest of Central Point, Oregon, the fort sat on a small 10-acre portion of a military reserve. The fort experienced ongoing problems between the Takelma and Shasta Indians, and settlers.
The documents include correspondence regarding the nomination, a history concerning the fort and pioneers, images of maps, plot plans, handwritten notes, newspaper articles, and research of the fort and military.
