Dutchman Peak Lookout, Applegate Ranger District, Rogue River National Forest, Jackson County, Oregon, 1998
Scope and Contents
The documents describe Dutchman Peak Lookout built in 1927 as significant for its place in the development of fire detection in the Rogue River National Forest. The evaluation expects Dutchman Peak Lookout to receive placement on the National Registry of Historic Places. Dutchman Peak parcel, initially an 80-acre parcel privately own by William Spaulding, was acquired by the Forest Service from the county through the lack of payment of taxes in 1922. Included are correspondence and images of the structure.
