William M. Briggs - Arthur W. Ellis, 1872-1929
Scope and Contents
The real estate documents begin with the Donation Land Claim from the United States to Hiram E. Spencer, dated 1872. There have been many owners of the land throughout the years. In 1896 The Hoyt Brothers Lumber and Coal Co. purchased a portion. Arthur W. Ellis purchased a piece of the property using his World War Veterans' benefits in 1929. Also included are court documents regarding unpaid taxes, the divorce and custody of Alice and William Black, a satisfaction of Judgement, and probate for William Joseph Moore's estate. Celia A. Andrews sells to Henry J. and Frances Leveque. The documents show William M. Briggs as a trustee. The last owners listed are Everett A. and Nancy A. Jennings.
