Scope and Contents
The Jackson County Abstract Company records consist of 55 packets of documents in one box. The company’s name appears as Jackson County Title and Abstract Co. after 1945.
One document of note is the Donation Land Claim Entry, United States to A.D. Helman, dated February 22, 1854, filed February 18, 1851, for property in the Enders Addition in downtown Ashland. Another is the Warranty Deed, Robert B. Hargadine and Martha W. Hargadine to Lindsay Applegate, dated November 24, 1862, filed December 16, 1862, to “bargain, sell and convey” the principal part of Donation Land Claim No. 42, in Ashland’s Railroad Addition.
