I-3 Crater National Forest, "Correspondence - Ashland Creek Road proposal," Medford, Oregon (4p). Concerns a city-proposed "scenic road" up Ashland Canyon to Mount Ashland. The Forest Service was against the idea but did refer to a possible road from Siskiyou Highway to Mount Ashland. This road is the present route of the Mt. Ashland Access Road, built in the 1960s. Two letters of "Memorandum for Forest Supervisor," with maps attached, from Mr. Sproat and District Ranger Brinson describing access to specific areas for possible extraction of Shasta red fir Christmas trees.
