Special Fire Study, 1915-1916
Scope and Contents
D-5 "Special Fire Study," H. D. Foster, O-Fire, Crater National Forest, Medford, Oregon (20p). The study describes the installation of weather instruments on Windy Peak, evaluates the fire-fighting qualities of various tools, and studies detection and suppression times for three fires. The study notes some of Ranger Gribble's fire prevention slogans on signs in the Ashland Watershed: "Keep Vulcan Quiet Till Pluvius Returns"...and Foster's comments: "To be sure, few who read the notice would know Vulcan and Pluvius from Huitzilpotchli and Quetzalcoatle, but some would wonder."
